Platinum Dance School is a family run dance school with 4 main branches. 3 are based in Dorset (Portland, Weymouth and Preston) and just recently Liane has taken over a dance school in Hayling Island. We would like to welcome our new students to the Platinum Family.

Until 2010, we were known as Portland Dance School, but as the school expanded from Portland to Weymouth and Preston, we decided that the school needed a new name Platinum Dance School was formed.

Having taken over what was Portland Dance School in July 2008, Liane and Platinum Dance School have achieved many new and exciting ventures. As a school we have held 6 shows, In 2009, 2011 and 2013 we held a review show at Weymouth College, giving our students the chance to show parents and carers what they had been learning in their lessons. In 2010, 2012 and 2014 we held our big themed costumed show at Weymouth Pavilion. Due to the number of students in our school, we are unable to hold our review shows at the college, so we plan to do our main costumed themed show at the Pavilion every 18 months. The first show will be held in November 2015. As well as this, we hold annual assessment days and an awards afternoon. We can also enter students for ISTD exams if they so wish. Children also have the chance to dance and compete in Weymouth Dance Festival, and over the past couple of years we have had several of our students placed. For 2 years running we were asked to provide dancers and choreograph several numbers for the professional show ‘The Heat Is On’ held at the Weymouth Pavilion during the summer holidays. We also took part in Weymouth Carnival in 2011. In 2012 we were invited to take part in the Jubilee Show at the Pavilion and our Stamina Performers group participated in both the matinee and evening shows. In 2015 we had Chris from Tap Dogs come and teach a workshop for our students, which was very well attended and we hope that Chris will soon be part of the Platinum Dance School teaching team. Each year we hold a summer school which is held at Holy Trinity Primary School. We also try and arrange a west end trip whenever possible.
